Most acute injuries such as sprains, strains, and fractures will usually heal in a few days to a few months and this was certainly the case when I first started treating athletic injuries in the Danville IL and Covington IN areas. However, as I began to care for professional and elite athletes, the need for a speedier, complete recovery became my goal as their sport or event in most cases was their livelihood. For them a longer recovery time meant less income and their ability to perform might be affected which could result in them being replaced. Not good for them and not good for me! Wanting to provide the best possible care for the injured whether they be professional or a week-end warrior, I’ve developed an approach that can shorten the time needed for healing by up to 90%! We’ve seen this success repeated in healing tendonitis, bursitis, sprains, strains, muscle tears, meniscus tears and even more severe injuries such as multiple compound fractures in seniors, who have achieved complete recovery and once-again are fully functional. It’s also resulted in an influx of athletes from throughout the United States from every level of many sports coming to our centre to receive care. So if you’re an athlete or non-athlete who’ve been injured in the Danville IL or Covington IN areas and are wanting to get back into your game quickly and completely just call our centre (217-431-2010) that we may be o service to you. “For the best performance of your life!”

We’re often asked how we’ve been so successful when treating injuries. One of the many methods I use includes using Chinese medicine. In this instance the ingredients I use are applied to the injured area which allows them to migrate slowly through the skin and accelerate the healing of acute and chronic injuries as well as injuries caused by overuse. This approach speeds up injury recovery by increasing blood flow and lymphatic circulation. It also accelerates the necrotic (dead or damaged/dying) tissue breakdown that has resulted from the injury as well as various other biological activities that are necessary for damage repair. For many of our patients noticeable pain reduction generally begins within a couple of hours when treating an acute condition.

For most minor injuries, an overnight recovery can be expected. With 2nd degree ankle sprains, muscle tears, AC joint separations that typically take up to one month to heal, we can achieve complete healing in as little as 5 days by using this approach. This is one of the major reasons we are privileged to have professional athletes coming to us from Europe and across the U.S. But hey, you don’t have to be a professional athlete to get this kind of care for your injury. You’re just as important to us as are they, so just give us a call. We’re here to help you achieve, “the best performance of your life!”

One recurring injury we see whether it’s one of the professional athletes or a Danville, IL or Covington Ind., area high school athlete is tendonitis or a torn tendon resulting from repetitive use or sudden injury. Relying on the typical approach used in treating these injuries demands a longer time to heal and rarely does the injured individual regain his or her full strength. Most are given Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the acute stage, which themselves cause further damage to the body, and then corticosteroid injections are used to reduce pain and inflammation as the condition becomes chronic. This too causes further damage to the body. And, if the injured tendon is unable to heal within 3 months, scar tissue and calcification may start to form – a most undesirable complication. Tennis elbow, Rotator Cuff, and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are the most common injuries where this reaction occurs.

With our approach to these types of injuries many, if not most of those we are privileged to care for have achieved total reversal of their condition completely and with full functionality in 2 to 3 weeks! That’s how amazing your body is and how effective the care we offer is. So if you’d rather participate than spectate, give us a call.

“For the best performance of your life!”

I can honestly say that had it not been for the knowledge and abilities of Dr. Bartosh my running career would have been over before it began. Having been running only four months, I sustained a severe injury to the knee which left my running drastically slower and with pain so severe, sometimes incapable of running. I knew that rest and taking time off would not correct the problem. Having heard good things about Dr. Bartosh, I decided to schedule an appointment as quickly as possible. Within my first visit he not only took the steps necessary to begin correcting the problem, but also found the weakness and cause of the initial injury and began to correct that injury so that it would not reoccur. Within a handful of treatments, I was back to running and at the pace I had been previously accustomed to. With continued knowledge and care from ProActive Wellnes, not only did they take me back to the level that I was at before sustaining the injury, but I have now surpassed all of the goals I had once set. With their continued help I look forward to surpassing my new goals.

I’ve been running competitively for 15 years now, and have always heard comments about my odd stride. For years I tried to alter it by concentrating on proper form, doing drills, and so forth, but no amount of this made a difference.

Finally, I was forced to confront the issue when I sustained a minor injury and went to Dr. B for help. In a matter of moments he was able to detect a substantial imbalance in my legs that accounted for my unusual gait and, likely, the injury itself. He performed a few adjustments and declared that, although significant changes would take long term treatment, I should see some results immediately.
I did, in fact, get amazingly immediate results, evidenced in my first workout after treatment. I completed a strenuous track session with much less effort than I would have before, feeling fluid and fast. My coach and teammates couldn’t believe the transformation in my stride. Someone even took video and showed it to me, and I didn’t even recognize myself. I had the traditional runner’s form that I had always assumed just “wasn’t me.”
Given the fantastic results, I’m excited to go back for follow up sessions in order to make sure that these changes are maintained or even improved. I’m even more excited for the upcoming race season. I can’t thank Dr. B enough, and highly recommend his services.

CHAMPAIGN — Two years ago, Alysha Bartosh wasn’t running and winning 5K races. In fact, she wasn’t running at all.
The Oakwood native, now living in Tampa, Fla., was born with a defect that made her right foot point to the right at a 90-degree angle. Her right knee pointed the opposite direction.
“They said in the womb, I was very cramped,” Bartosh said. “As I grew older, the kneecap would actually lock behind the left knee, which would cause bruising. I couldn’t run.”
She lived with the condition for most of her 30 years. It made even walking difficult. Going down stairs, Bartosh would have to take steps sideways.
“No sports,” said Bartosh, who went to school at Danville First Baptist. “I had it since birth. When you’re born with that, you don’t think anything different.”
Tired of the condition and the limitations it placed on her, Bartosh sought help. She went to orthopedic surgeons, who suggested a plan that would have included intentionally breaking her hip and ankle bones. “No thanks,” Bartosh said.
“They said it would be about six months to a year of casts,” Bartosh said. “It just wasn’t appealing to someone who likes to be active.”
Finally, she turned to somebody closer. With the help of her father/doctor, Danville chiropractor Robert Bartosh, Alysha had nonsurgical treatment that fixed her right leg.
Two years after her first race, which she ran in 45 minutes, Bartosh cut the time a bit Friday night by 25 minutes to win the Christie Clinic 5K on the Illinois campus.
Bartosh won in 20 minutes, 5 seconds, eight seconds faster than runner-up Kathy Daniels of Paris.
Mike Ptack of Elmhurst was first in the men’s race, clocking a 15:32.
That was 48 seconds ahead of Bloomington’s Michael Straza. James Kubisiak of Savoy was third.
Bartosh finished the 2010 race in 23:24. She was hoping to break 20 minutes this year. Oh well, she’ll be back in 2012.
Free to run as much as she wants, Bartosh now is working with a coach in the Pittsburgh area, Phil Thompson. She also spends time with her dad, who runs the Pro-Active Wellness & Injury Centre in Danville.
“It feels wonderful now,” she said. “I have no complaints. It feels completely different.”
Bartosh drove to this year’s race from Pittsburgh, where she does business. Before the treatments on her leg, she wouldn’t have been able to make the drive.
The treatments on her leg required a commitment from Bartosh. After a few sessions, she was able to walk straight and run for a short time.
“He documented it all and took photos,” Bartosh said. “I said, ‘When this gets fixed, no one is going to believe this.’ ”
The muscles in her right leg remained sore for a few months.
“The first six months of training, it required exercises on my part,” Bartosh said.
Since the treatment on her leg, Bartosh has placed in every race she has entered. She won a 5K in November in Indianapolis, her first win.
Bartosh can run longer distances but prefers the 5Ks.
“I’m a very busy person, and I’m very frugal with my time,” Bartosh said. “I love getting in and getting it done. I love the 5K. That’s my passion for right now, and I hope it is for a very long time.”
In last year’s race, Bartosh started farther back in the field and wasn’t able to make up the ground. On Friday, she moved quickly toward the front.
“I tried to control the first mile,” Bartosh said.
Daniels was ahead of Bartosh until just before they entered Memorial Stadium.
“I just tried to hold it from there,” Bartosh said.
Ultimately, Bartosh wants to run a 5K in 18:40. She promises to get there, maybe next week in the Indianapolis 500 5K.
Bartosh had fans in the stands rooting her on, including her dad, mom and brother, who flew up from Tampa.
When she isn’t breaking her own PR, Bartosh is a specialist in performance nutrition. She travels as a wellness consultant.
“Being healthy and active is in my blood,” Bartosh said. “When I wasn’t able to do something, it kind of ate at me a little.”

Alysha AKA “Cheetah”

Until two and a half years ago she was physically unable to run. This past November she won the Indianapolis Monumental HNTB 5K for the second year in a row. Watch her video below.

This past year was the first year for me take on an intense training program to accomplish many goals as they relate to running… including running my first half marathon. It is also the year I was fortunate enough to meet Dr. Bartosh.

With the help of Dr. Bartosh and his many resources I was properly equipped with knowledge on how to prepare both physically and nutritionally for my various races.

I was and am continually amazed at the expertise Dr. B has demonstrated while receiving chiropractic adjustments from him. He has found injuries before they surfaced! As well as put me quickly on the road to recovery for the existing injuries that arose during my training. All the while he had an explanation for the cause, and provided me with exercises and stretches to help prevent further injuries.

In addition to keeping me physically ready for performance… Dr. B and his staff provided me with expert nutrition advice to keep me fueled for training and races, aid in recovery and maintain day to day wellness.

I can honestly say that with his help , this year I was in the best shape both physically and nutritionally that I ever have been in all of my 38 years.

On a personal note, I would like to say that you couldn’t find a more kind and down to earth provider. His bedside manner is impeccable.. and he makes a great cheerleader when you need one during an important race!!

Every time he sees me Dr. Bartosh informs me that it’s his privilege to work with me, but the truth is, it definitely my privilege to work with him.

I wanted to thank Doctor Bartosh for helping me out with my knee injury that has been bothering and frustrating me for over 4 years. I have been an active athlete for over 28 years and competed on the recreational as well as professional level in many sports, (Hockey, Tennis, Soccer, Cycling). The pain has been getting progressively worse and it was starting to limit the amount of days I was able to exercise. After only 2 sessions Doctor Bartosh was able to help me using his technique and my knee hasn’t felt this good and strong for a long time. I am able to exercise 5 to 6 times a week again with better performance. Once again I would like to thank him and his staff for their professionalism and for the incredible results.

PS: Doctor Bartosh was also able to put me on a nutrition program that help me gain my 50 pounds back that I’ve been missing for a while. Program goes as follows: 3 sausages links, 3 hotdogs and a gallon of chocolate milk shake for breakfast lunch and dinner. Every other day he allowed me to have dozen of donuts with breakfast. I’m now back to 250 pounds (I’m only 5’1” tall but 5’6″ wide) just where I should be! Thank you Doctor Bartosh for your brilliant nutrition program. I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to compete on a professional level. I would say a lot more but I have to get back on my program!

My name is Raeanne Harvey, I’m a 37 year old married mother of 3 daughters, 2 of which are 2 1/2 year old twins. I started going to Dr. Bartosh my freshman year in high school for my scoliosis and migraines. Chiropractic care has given me the ability to do anything in life to high school volleyball, to pregnancies, to my recent exercise program.
About a year and half ago I started on a weight loss journey through exercise and diet. I became a runner as part of my exercise regimen. Dr. Bartosh recently treated me for a hip injury that traveled to my left knee and ankle. I was unable to run and do my other exercises before I saw him. After receiving the care I needed I felt like a new person. I was able to get back to my running and exercise routine without any pain. I recently ran my personal best in a 5k race and without Pro-Active Wellness and Injury Centre I would not have accomplished it.
Thank you very much Dr. Bartosh for healing my injury and continuing to provide such excellent service!
